Women’s Health Victoria recognises that each workplace is different. The program is designed to be flexible and can be customised to incorporate your workplace’s policies and procedures as well as scenarios that are relevant in your industry.
The program engages all levels of the workplace using a staged approach:
1. Lead
Establishing leadership and readiness to Take a Stand
- Your workplace leadership team is supported to adopt the Take a Stand principles and to establish the infrastructure, supports, policies and procedures needed to assist staff affected by domestic violence.
2. Train
Educating staff to be positive bystanders - Standard
- Staff from across the workplace gain an understanding of domestic violence.
- Staff develop the skills and confidence to speak up against sexism as positive bystanders and to support colleagues affected by domestic violence
Training management to create a safe and supportive workplace - Additional
- Managers and human resources staff are equipped with the skills to assist staff who are affected by domestic violence and to apply best practice approaches to creating a safe and supportive workplace. Contact us for information on this training option
3. Promote
Promoting key messages and sustaining impacts
- The principles of Take a Stand and positive bystander action are promoted across the workplace
- Staff at all levels are committed and actively engaged in preventing domestic violence
- The workplace is recognised as an employer of choice and a leader in the community
4. Evaluate
Measuring impact and effectiveness
- Evaluation occurs throughout program implementation, using tested methods
- The extent and methodology of the evaluation is tailored to suit the workplace’s budget and impact goals
