This submission from the Women’s Mental Health Alliance (the Alliance) responds to the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Forum Summary Report.
The Alliance welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Summary Report from the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Forum. The Alliance also welcomed the opportunity to participate in a workshop as part of the Workforce Capability stream in September 2021.
The Alliance recommends that a gender lens be applied to all aspects of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy to ensure that we have an appropriately skilled mental health workforce that can deliver trauma-informed, gender- and culturally responsive mental health support, as well as address the gendered social, economic and cultural determinants of mental ill-health through primary prevention.
Further, the Alliance makes specific recommendations on the following themes:
