Victorian Womens Health Atlas

Publications & Resources

Women’s Health Victoria produces a range of information resources across our priority work areas and population groups. We identify gaps in existing health information and we seek to research and produce written resources where none currently exist. Our resources are used to both inform our own work and to advocate for better policy and services.

Our publications and resources support the work of health professionals and those working in policy development, planning and service provision.

Issues Papers

Issues Papers consolidate information from many sources to provide an evidence-based gender analysis of a particular women’s health issue. They highlight the health impacts for women, the groups of women most affected, and explore contributing factors.

Knowledge Papers

Knowledge Papers capture feedback and learnings from delivery of Women’s Health Victoria’s programs and resources.

Gender Impact Assessments

Gender Impact Assessments analyse the extent to which existing or proposed policy and practice is based on gendered evidence, and responds appropriately to gender. They highlight policies and practices that are gender blind, and make recommendations that promote gender equity and improved outcomes for women.

Health Data

The Victorian Women’s Health Atlas is an interactive resource that displays gender differences in key health and wellbeing data indicators for each local government area, compared with health region and statewide averages. The data can be visualised in multiple formats (maps, bar graphs, and fact sheets).

Health Data fact sheets consolidate information from many sources to provide a statistical snapshot of a particular women’s health issue. This series draws on information that previously resided on The Index website, decommissioned in December 2014.

Spotlights and Clearinghouse Connectors

Our Spotlights and Clearinghouse Connectors (former title) each cover a specific topic and contain a selection of up-to-date resources that are available online in fulltext. They are designed to connect professionals and organisations that work with women to a curated set of resources that collectively provide an introduction to the topic.
