About the workshop:

This full day masterclass aims to build participants’ confidence and skills in crafting and sharing stories that communicate the drivers of violence against women.

This workshop take participants through story crafting techniques and principles, key considerations when tailoring PVAW stories to various audiences and ethical storytelling. 

Participants workshop key messages and craft their own story through individual and group activities. This workshop aims to increase the confidence of participants to develop and tell stories that illuminate the causes of violence against women.

Please note* : Participants are asked to bring in an example that illustrates one or more of the drivers of violence against women. This example will be the bases of story crafting activities. (‘Examples’ of the drivers of violence against women are not required to be in story form prior to the workshop.)

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for practitioners working in the primary prevention and gender equity sectors. Participants are required to have a strong understanding of violence against women, primary prevention, Change the Story, and the causes/drivers of violence against women as this content will not be covered in the workshop. 

Workshop facilitators 

Kiri Bear is a professional facilitator, trainer and project manager. With 15 years’ experience in youth, community and government services, Kiri has been at the forefront of the PVAW field. Kiri is also an artist, poet and a storyteller. 

Linden Deathe is the senior health promotion officer and training coordinator at Women’s Health Victoria and brings 10 years of experience developing and delivering gender equity training in the international development and prevention of violence against women sectors. Linden holds a Master of Gender and Development and a Cert IV in training and assessment. Linden is originally from Canada and only sometimes misses the snow.
