Advocacy in Health Promotion
The workshop will place advocacy and lobbying as legitimate health promotion activities. It will provide a framework and tools for developing an advocacy campaign and highlight the essential elements of successful advocacy.
The workshop will cover:
• What is advocacy and how does it fit into health promotion practice?
• Where should advocacy be targeted for the best results?
• Developing an advocacy campaign
• Techniques for advocacy – what to expect, practical tips
This workshop draws on Women’s Health Victoria’s experience of advocacy during the campaign for abortion law reform in Victoria.
