Women and violence: Issues Paper
Men’s violence against women is linked to gender inequalities and violence-supporting attitudes at the individual and society level. Factors such as power imabalance, disability, age, language barriers, and marginalised or indigenous status can increase women’s vulnerability to men’s violence. Violence has a long lasting impact on the physical and mental health and wellbeng of women. The flow-on effects extend to issues of homelessness and barriers in seeking justice and legal redress.
