Women and tobacco: GIA

Highlights the multiple ways that gender differences and gender inequities influence smoking uptake, behaviours and cessation for women. Discusses: effects of smoking; tobacco advertising and marketing; factors associated with smoking; smoking cessation; public health prevention and cessation strategies; and policy context. Recommends that policy and health promotion measures address the relationship between gender and smoking, and provide tailored responses to meet the needs and concerns of women and girls.
