Women and climate change: GIA
Highlights the multiple ways that gender difference and gender inequities place the burden of climate change on women. Discusses the implications in terms of women’s mental health, autonomy, access to resources, socioeconomic conditions, urban and rural environments, natural disasters (drought and bushfires), loss of security and vulnerability to violence. As Australia takes steps towards mitigating the effects of climate change in a national and global context, governments and policy makers need to apply a gender lens to current and future climate change management.
