Victorian rural women's access to family planning services : survey report August 2012

Anecdotal information has been consistently provided to Women’s Health Services across Victoria that there are significant difficulties for women living in rural areas accessing family planning services. The scope of this project was to systematically gather baseline information from key stakeholders and service providers about rural women’s experience in accessing contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy counselling and support and termination of pregnancy (medication and surgical). The findings will be used to inform service delivery, service planning, women’s health advocacy, and to form a baseline for future comparative work.

The project is a collaboration of the following five services:
* Women’s Health Loddon Mallee,
* Women’s Health Goulburn North East,
* Gippsland Women’s Health Service,
* Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West, and
* Women’s Health Grampians.
