National human rights action plan for Australia background paper
Submission by Women’s Health Victoria to the consultation: ‘A new national human rights action plan for Australia: background paper’. Supports the development of a plan, and the intended development approach. Discusses the need for adopting a Human Rights Act, the need to foster and balance human rights, and the importance of cross-government action, funding and timelines to enable effective change, and evaluation. Advocates for a commitment to the right to gender equality, the right to freedom from violence, and the right to the highest attainable standard of health, including sexual and reproductive health.
