Model Spent Convictions Bill
Submission by Women’s Health Victoria in response to the consultation paper on the Draft Model Spent Convictions Bill. Discusses the increasing number of Victorian women prisoners; the impact of criminal history checks; which offences could become ‘spent’ (disregarded) after a sufficient period of good behaviour; sexual offences; overseas offences; and exceptions. The introduction of a national scheme would improve the health and wellbeing of women exiting prison, and would act as a significant incentive to diminish re-offending.
