Medicare Locals discussion paper on governance and functions

Submission by Women’s Health Victoria to the: Medicare Locals: Discussion paper on governance and functions. Recommendations include: the use of a gender analysis framework, creating formal linkages between Medicare Locals and Local Hospital Networks, using the principle of health equity to guide governance arrangements, incorporating primary health care clinical quality improvement mechanisms and Consumer Advisory Committees into each Medicare Local, incorporating governance structures that promote the diversity of interests in primary care and avoiding medical dominance, ensuring responsibility for the clinical governance of primary health care, developing Community Participation Plans, and inclusion of sex-disaggregated data in reporting.
