Making Space for Women: Sexist advertising & the representation of women and girls in the media and public space

This year we continued our conversation around representations of women and girls through our second Making Space for Women event, presented in partnership by Plan International, City of Melbourne and Women’s Health Victoria, and funded through the State government’s Victoria Against Violence activities as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign.

Our panel of expert speakers explored how the representation of women and girls in advertising and public spaces impacts women and girls’ feelings of safety and inclusion, how this perpetuates stereotypes that drive violence against women, and how we can address this through innovative opportunities to improve the representation and inclusion of women in Victoria.
