Assisted reproduction statistics and trends
According to a recent report ‘Assisted reproductive technology in Australia and New Zealand 2007’, the number of ART procedures – such as IVF – has increased by 10% per annum in the 5 years 2003 to 2007. Over the same period, the number of multiple deliveries has fallen from 19% to 10%. This is largely due to doctors and patients increasingly agreeing to implant a single embryo instead of multiple embryos.
