Whatever it takes to reach gender equity in health
Women’s Health Victoria is a statewide, feminist, not-for-profit organisation leading the pursuit of gender equity in health.
We work with government, the health sector, and the community to create better health outcomes for women (cis and trans inclusive) and gender diverse people.
- We deliver vital support services to the community and provide empowering health information.
- We share evidence and recommendations to challenge bias in the health system.
- We build capacity in the health sector to achieve equitable health outcomes.
Women’s Health Victoria is transforming the health system – doing whatever it takes to reach gender equity in health.

Our values
Our history
In 2023-24, Women’s Health Victoria proudly celebrated our 30th anniversary.
Our organisation was formed in 1993, and was called Healthsharing Women’s Health Resource Service until 1996. We then joined together with the Women’s Health Resource Collective and ‘Women’s Health Victoria’ was born.
Over the past 30 years, WHV has been a leading voice in women’s health, advocating for all women to have a say in their health care, to have access to quality information to make informed choices and to have access to health care that meets their needs.
Our organisation now has an extensive network of staff, volunteers and affiliated health partners and is a leading voice on gender equity in health. We are a proud member of the Victorian Women’s Health Services Network which has been progressing and shaping the women’s health and equality space in Victoria for four decades.
More about WHV
Women’s Health Victoria is one of the three statewide services within The Victorian Women’s Health Services Network, made up of twelve women’s health services funded through the state government’s Victorian Women’s Health Program.
Together, we have been a driving force in progressing and shaping Victoria’s women’s health and equality space for four decades. This has enabled us to operate as a coordinated, mutually reinforcing statewide network comprising both place-based and specialist services.
